Rider Profiles
Race Classes
Sidecars
• No brakes are fitted, only permitted to change into a higher gear once race has started.
• Made to turn right only. Swinger (passenger) sits behind rider to give traction to rear wheel on straights then ‘swings’ out to their right and forward to keep bike sitting flat and give more traction to front wheel in corners allowing rear wheel to slide through corner.
• Races are 4 laps with normally 4 or 5 bikes in a race.
• Bikes line up at tapes which rise vertically to allow race to start. Bikes that impede the start (break or touch the tapes) are either: excluded from that race or put back 30m for that race depending on circumstances.
• Some new riders will start 30m back from the tapes until officials are satisfied they are able to enter full competition.
• If a rider causes a red flag (race is stopped) that rider is excluded from the re-start unless they were taking avoiding action. A rider who damages their bike whilst avoiding an accident may use another bike in a re-started race if first bike is unserviceable and they are entitled to a re-start.

Solos
• We run three grades of Solo (Solo A, Solo B and Classics)
• Purpose built 500cc 4 stroke methanol powered machine of up to 75 horsepower.
• No brakes, fixed speed (no gearbox) to keep weight down to around 85kg.
• Made to turn left only, right hand turns difficult as right foot rest is only 30mm above ground so bike can’t ‘lay’ into a right hand turn.
• No rear suspension and only 50mm travel in front suspension.
A rider who drops their bike to avoid an accident may use another bike in a re-started race if first bike is unserviceable and they are entitled to a re-start.
• Small fuel tank has enough fuel for about 8 laps; hence bikes get topped up if there is a re-started race. Most bikes require 1 or 2 oil changes during a meeting.
